We ended up having more class time than we anticipated so we decided to make cards for the cafeteria workers. We walked in and one of the ladies seemed like she was having a bad. When we walked in, her face immediately lit up. She said that it had been a rough day and the card made her remember why she was in the job she was in. Later that day, I saw all the cafeteria ladies had their cards at their work stations and they clipped the little motivational cards to their aprons. This batch of cards was one of the most rewarding!

We finished all of the teacher and staff cards and they were a big hit. You could tell the cards were genuinely loved by the students and staff. Many staff members had the cards sitting on their desks as something to brighten their days. This project went really well and I think it is something that will want to be continued in the future. Since of the cards are finished, this project is officially wrapped up. There is a possibility that we may revaluate this project in the spring to see if there is more we can do to help encourage the people around us and even possibly the community.
We finished all 43 student responses and delivered their cards. I think the cards made a good impact and brightened people's days with all the ongoing circumstances. After we finished all the student responses, we moved on to starting the teacher cards. We have completed and delivered about half of the teacher cards. Next week we plan to finish the teacher cards and move on to making cards for the administrators, bus drivers, and early college representatives
The main part of this project is making and delivering cards to students who filled out the questionnaire (previously mentioned in my last blog post.) The questionnaire asked the student their name, favorite color, hobbies/activities they are involved in, and what they are struggling with. We then make a card and tailor it to the student. The pictures shown are of some of the cards we made and the paint rollers used to stamp the front of the cards !!
Random Acts of Kindness is a legacy project that was started two years ago by two girls named Natalie Cramer and Haley Harrison. The goal of this project is to encourage students and staff within the school about anything they are dealing with. Me and my partners, Lucy Miller and Liz Roth decided to continue the project and make it our own. Now more than ever, people need encouragement. We live in a world that's never-changing and new information comes out everyday. Especially with the presence of the coronavirus, people everywhere can feel its impacts which leads to unneeded anxiety and stress. Overall this project is designed to bring a sense of peace and strength to those struggling. Pitch and ProgressOver the past 3 weeks, we had to take the first steps to making our project a success. We pitched the idea to our class and took off running. After our pitch, we sent out a questionnaire to the student body. It was optional to fill out and there was no pressure to do so. Our school population is about 1200 students and we have received about 40 responses so far. Although that doesn't seem like a lot, we were happily surprised with the amount of responses we received. Something we also started was a remind message thread. Each morning, my partner Liz, sends out an encouraging picture or text to help encourage people throughout the school week.
